Welcome to our level 01 wheel basis workshop! Our pack of 4 sessions is designed to introduce you to the practice of pottery around. We will guide you through preparing the clay, centering the clay by stabilizing the body, techniques for shaping a cylinder and shaping a set of cups/bowls/small vase.

At the end of this pack, you will be able to spin a ball of clay weighing approximately one kilo. Our weekly classes will allow you to progress quickly while making your first series of pieces on the potter's wheel.

Here is an overview of your 4 sessions:

• Workshop 01: Discovery of pottery, clay materials and the world of ceramics. You will learn how to use the lathe and shape your first bowl/cup using the tools developed by KLAYIT workshops.

• Workshop 02: Focus on the preparation of clay, the practice of centering, body positioning and the search for balance and stability. You will be able to shape two pieces under the guidance of your instructor.

• Workshop 03: After a reminder of the basics of preparing and centering clay, it is time to start producing your first small series of objects. Your instructor will guide you in shaping a series of cups/bowls/small vases.

• Workshop 04: Discover the pottery trimming, the complementary techniques of wheel throwing. Refine your pieces and apply handles if you wish to.

At the end of these workshops, all pieces produced (to the extent that they can be fired) will be fired and glazed with a transparent varnish. Firing your pieces at high temperature will allow you to use them in the dishwasher and microwave.

You can also sign up for an additional session for decorating and glazing your pieces. Decorating and glazing your pieces is a learning process in itself and requires an additional session.
