Cove technique
It begins with a brief introduction to ceramics and the coiling technique, preparing clay and shaping your vase. The instructor will be there to guide you and help you achieve the form and precision you are looking for.
Coiling is one of the oldest methods of creating objects and vessels with clay. A coil is made by rolling clay onto a flat surface, forming long pliable cylinders. With a slab as a base, these coils are then placed on top of another, allowing different shapes to be created. By raising up the walls little by little, this technique permits control of the thickness of the walls thus allowing building bigger objects and avoiding the risk of collapsing.
Once your creation is complete, our team will glaze and fire your Vase. Your vase will thus be completely usable, heat resistant and suitable for daily use. You will also have acquired new ceramic skills and perhaps even developed a passion for this discipline.
